Looking for a refreshing treat for your kids? This homemade fruit popsicle recipe is sure to be a favorite for everyone in your family! Not every ice cream or popsicle is healthy for you and your children. Luckily, our popsicle only contains fruit and water, so it's healthy and vegan (and quick and easy to make at home)!

Who doesn't love to enjoy a popsicle while relaxing? Delicious! But do you know how popsicles were actually invented?

A lemonade maker, Frank Epperson, accidentally left a spoon in a glass of lemonade outside on a frosty night. The next morning there was a surprise: the very first popsicle!

Ingredients

  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Kiwi
  • Water
  • Ice cream mould

How it's made

For this very simple summer refreshment, firstly, wash the blueberries and strawberries. Next, remove the stalks from the strawberries and cut them into thin slices. Lastly, peel the kiwi and cut them into thin slices in the same way.

Before using the ice cream mould for the first time, wash it thoroughly. Once you have done this, fill the moulds with fruit as desired. The thin slices of strawberries and kiwi should stick to the ‘walls’ of the mould, so you can see them on the outside.

Next, fill each mould with water up to the rim. Finally, place the lid, if you have one, on top. If you are working with moulds without lids, insert handles after one hour of freezing.

Now it's time to put the filled moulds in the freezer. Freezing can take a few hours, so put them in overnight to shorten your waiting time.

After a few hours, remove the homemade fruit popsicles from the freezer and enjoy them with the children!

Tip: If you want to vary the colour of the popsicle, you can colour the water with food colouring or the child's favourite syrup.
